Berman House

Located in Vancouver, Berman House is a national award winning co-occurring disorders program (2008 Kaiser Foundation Award) that works with and supports individuals facing the challenges of living with mental illness and addiction issues. Berman House provides residents with the education, skills and support systems needed to achieve personal goals, while addressing the challenges of living with mental health and addictions issues.

Programming:

The Berman House Adventure Therapy Program is an example of the best of best practices in mental health and addictions programming and leads the way in providing a new type of health service relationship for those seeking recovery from mental health and addiction issues.

The Adventure Therapy Program takes members to the outdoors and allows them to relate and develop life skills and trust through nature, physical exercise and mental endurance.  This programming seeks to improve self-esteem and dignity while inspiring motivation on the path to recovery.

Goals

To provide an accepting and supportive environment for residents to develop the skills and supports necessary to achieve their personal goals while successfully integrating back into the community of their choice.
